The Amalgamated Transit Union is the largest organization representing transit workers in the United States and Canada. Founded in 1892, the ATU today is comprised over 190,000 members in 264 Local Unions spread over 44 states and nine provinces. It is composed of bus drivers, light rail operators, maintenance, clerical personal and other transit and municipal employees. The ATU works to promote transit issues and fights for the interest of it hard-working members.
ATU 1765, AFL-CIO was established in October 2007. 1765 consists of employees from Grays Harbor Transit, Intercity Transit and Pacific Transit representing, operators, customer service representatives, maintenance employees and Dial A Lift dispatchers.
The mission of our Local Union is to promote the cause of trade union principles, to improve the quality of life for all members, to contribute to the betterment of the community, to educate members, to coordinate with other properties and Locals, to achieve our mission and will extend to include all working men and women regardless of race, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, citizenship or nationality.
